Surreal Estate

CR and I took a Sunday drive today and swung by "Agave", Austin's first, true "green-cubist-neighborhood-o-the-future" which is being built waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out on the last available hill in town. We browsed some homes and must have said "how cute is this" like 5000 times. Prices aren't bad at all, low 200's to high 400's depending on your view. There are 25 floor plans each designed by a hand full of edgy Austin architects. I call them "pocket homes"...so cute you just wanted to put them in your pocket and take them home with you.

See Why:

I feel a physical ache for ownership. Oh, and btw y'all...Jason's "waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out" of town is 6 miles from downtown. *eye roll*

Cute, like St. A campus was cute in the 60's. How long before these are "dated"?

love your photos. I currently own a slab in Agave which will be a cool green and grey purple two story come February. I think I need to borrow a photo or two of yours for our page! :-)

As an aside, do you know the people who first bought in Agave over a year ago got these 300,000 homes for 150,000? It makes me sick how much equity we would have had we shopped a year sooner...still, the houses there are increasing in value it seems every month so we're doing ok.

Glad you liked our 'hood... You either love it or hate it. But those who hate it are far too traditional for us anyway!

Have you heard about Villa Muse going in just East of there? Now that's gonna be somethin'!
