Way over the top
I decided yesterday that we needed to stay in the Coco Chanel Suite at the Ritz in Paris for our Thanksgiving trip. Not only is it where she lived for 13 years of her life, it's the room where Princess Diana was staying when she was killed 10 years ago. I inquired about pricing..at 9,000 euros a night (thats 12,375 usd), It's clearly not a viable option. During Fashion week in Paris, the rooms cost skyrockets to 20,000 euros a night.

Let's see now. Coco lived there for thirteen (13) years. Let's assume that the Ritz did not gouge her for the extra francs (pre Euros) during fashion week, since she was "fashion".
The way I calculate it, that's $12,375/Night X 365 nights/Year X 13 Years = $58,719,375, not counting taxes and tips.
That's a lot of "haute couture" and #5.
Then there is Prncess Di, as wonderful as she was reportred to be, living off the public dole in obscene elegance.
Like a friend of mine has said on more than one occassion, "There's money, and then there's money". The ultra rich really are different from us...see "The Great Gadsby".
