Well Seasoned!

I've found myself (last minute) in Costa Rica again but this time im doing it up luxury style at the Four Seasons in Guanacaste. I was picked up at the airport in a private hotel car, after a 30 minute drive down Peninsula Papagayo arrived at the hotel. You are met by a team of staff who already know your name, offered fresh berrie smoothie, cool towel and your room key. You bypass check-in and you are wisked away directly to your suite which is cooled (to your pre-determined temperature). The rooms have sliding walls that open up directly to a covered outdoor living space where you can sit and watch Monkeys and Iguanas play in the palms with the pacific surf in the background. There literally must be 4 employees to every guest, you can't turn around without being asked within a minute or so if you want a cool towel, bottle of water or anything else you can think ok . They call you by your name everywhere, even if you've never met them. I can't figure out how they do that. Absolutely everything seems like a customized experience. this experience is STRONGLY STRONGLY recommended. I would also recommend you sell a kidney on the black market, cause thats about what this will cost you.

No Space 4 MySpace

I recently lost “rank” on a certain someone’s MySpace Page. This was fueled by a break-up between two friends. I was informed that this was going to occur because there had actually been a discussion about it during the breakup proceedings. Shocked and amazed that the word “myspace” would even surface in a discussion between two consenting adults over the age of 30 during a monumental relationship divide, I monitored my page to see if it was, in fact, all true. And it was. I was demoted like the bratty red headed stepchild you were forced to accept. I’ve realized before that I am way too old to care about or even have a MySpace page, but not until now did it become so abundantly clear how truly sophomoric it all is. I’m embarrassed that I ever gave into the peer pressure that prompted me to start it in the first place.

While MySpace is clearly “dead” in interactive media circles, it’s still living and breathing its pathetic life in the mainstream. Still fueling self esteem crisis’s with its rank and file systems and broadcasting it’s “you only matter if you’re included” message to the attention starved masses. Contrary to what you may think, I do believe in the power of online social networks and there ability to collect and mobilize users through a trusted reference model. I belong to some professional networks that have yielded many benefits that wouldn’t have come my way had I not “belonged”. I’ve even met people through MySpace. Touché!

I just deleted my MySpace Page altogether. No more. What’s next? Hmmm. I encourage anyone who’s over 30, well adjusted and not in need of a constant public reminder of your social status to consider doing the same. Pick up the phone or send an email if you need to stay in touch or feel free to stick with stupid bulletins, clunky site features and never-ending friend requests from lesbian hookers in Jakarta. It's your call!

A Fond Farewell.

Today's our last full day here in Australia and after almost 3-weeks together CH, JH and I have weathered yet another epic trip abroad. We've kept arguments to a minimum and found every inch of fun possible along the way. New Zealand, The Cook Islands and Australia have all framed our down under experience in ways we'll never forget. Empty Auckland, The human urinal, Rarotonga Arachnophobia, 80's rewind, single-duets and Miss Carmen Get-it's p*ssy posse have all added their own little je ne sais quoi to make this trip an extra special one.

We leave tomorrow on separate flights but all bound for the same destination. Home!

Sydney's Siren

185 meters long and 125 meters wide, 1000 rooms, 1 million danish roof tiles, 6225 Sq meters of glass, roof sections weigh 15 tons a piece, 102M dollars to build and the architect quit halfway through the project, but the Sydney Opera house still was erected and is one of the most recognizable pieces of architecture in the world today. And I must say, It doesn't disappoint.

View From The Top Down Under

We scaled the Harbour bridge's upper arc tonight despite the see through catwalks, paralyzing heights and looking like complete tools in the mandatory jumpsuits they provide, we were really glad we braved it once we got to the top. Night fell as we took the 2 hour climb and the harbour lights were beautiful from way up there. We could see the Opera House illuminated and just about every part of Sydney from the middle of the Harbour. While I wouldn't suggest this to anyone with a fear of heights, it's a phenomenal way to get a birds eye view of this great town.
